Alkaline Water Sticks: What They Do and Where to Get Them

A simple and affordable stick that you can place in any glass of water to turn it more alkaline? If you haven’t yet heard of alkaline water sticks, better known as portable water ionizers, here’s the rub: they’re the real deal.

How Does a Stick Turn Water Alkaline?

Alkaline water sticks contain various minerals, such as tourmaline ceramics, soluble calcium carbonate, coral fossil, dechlorine ceramics and black stone. These materials make water healthy by reducing acidity and adding trace elements to it that our bodies make use of. Water is an essential substance for us, we all know that.

What most Americans don’t realize however is that the water they are drinking is largely “dead.” It is low vibration, as some call it. A better description is simply that it is devoid of any good trace minerals and that its pH balance leans acidic, or is sometimes overtly acidic. This means that our body actually has to leech minerals from our bodies (usually our bones) just to balance the water coming into our bodies.

It is so important to realize get in the mindset that your water should be alkaline. It’s not like this is a magical or rare substance. Most water is naturally alkaline when found in nature, but chemical processes and bottling make it acidic.

Returning it or transforming it alkaline is actually not that difficult, and can be hugely beneficial. Alkaline water sticks basically dissolve their ingredients or mineral composition into the water they are placed in. They also help to absorb chemicals from the water

What About Ionizing?

There are some misconceptions about alkaline sticks, however. They shouldn’t necessarily be called “ionizing” sticks, because that infers that they add negative ions and oxygenate water, and that is not necessarily true. These are two different processes. Natural water is not only alkaline, it is rich in oxygen, and is full of negatively charged ions, which are beneficial to living creatures. Tap water and processed water tends to be less oxygen rich and has a more positive electro-chemical makeup. Adding an alkaline stick will not fix these issues, though they are arguably less impactful for us than the water being acidic.

Alkaline sticks do, however, reduce the size of water molecule clusters thus controlling harmful active oxygen as well as promoting nutrient absorption, which could be interpreted as oxygenating or ionizing in spirit.

Bottom line? If you are looking to create oxygen rich or “ionized” water, you’re better off getting a water ionizer. But if you are looking to make your water alkaline, leech the chemicals and harmful substances from the water, and make the water more “nutritious,” and helpful for your body directly, you’re better off getting an alkaline water stick.

Which Kind Works the Best?

There are a ton of brands out there, all of which seem to be popping up over night. Since they are becoming a popular item, it also means a lot of people who have no idea what alkaline water even is are purchasing these and getting mixed results. Here is a run down of the beneficial effects you can expect in varying degrees from a good, reliable alkaline water stick:

  • It can raise pH to 9 or even higher. Most reputable alkaline sticks can create a max alkaline water at pH 9.5.
  • Strengthens the body’s immune system and overall resistance to diseases.
  • Detoxes from harmful substances such as alcohol
  • Removes chlorine and heavy metals from water
  • Deeply hydrates
  • Increases energy
  • Increases mineral content of water
  • Eliminates free radicals
  • Enhances mental clarity
  • Neutralizes toxins in the colon.
  • Reduces and reverses acidosis.

So far there seem to be a couple reliable brands on the market. Obviously, any stick made of alkaline minerals can help make your water alkaline, but ideally we’re looking for ones with good mineral chemistry, very water soluble, and completely safe.

This alkaline water stick by the brand Eletop is probably the best rated and most reliable out there right now. They are a brand specializing in alkaline products and similar health equipment, so that is another plus. As far as mineral sticks go, this one gets my vote after researching all the major brands. You can grab one for yourself right here on the cheap.
