Balanced Morning Detox Smoothie Recipe

A detox smoothie should be packed with nutrients and leave you feeling refreshed and energized. Well, if there’s one word I’d use to describe this morning detox smoothie recipe, it would be “energizing.”

¾ cup ice
⅔ cup almond milk or cashew milk
1 ½ cups kale (loosely packed)
1 stalk of celery
½ fresh apple (cored)
1 tbsp ground flax seed
1 tsp fresh ginger

The real workhorse of this detox smoothie is the kale, which is quickly becoming known as a premiere superfood, with its impressive array of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and flavonoids. It has the just the right stuff that our bodies need and want.

Kale also contains several glucosinolates including glucobrassicin and sinigrin. These compounds are converted into isothiocyanates during digestion, and there is mounting evidence that they may help prevent cancer and even suppress tumor growth.
