There are truly an amazing number of nutrients stuffed inside of avocados – they are a staple for anyone looking to eat a more healthy, plant-based diet.
They’re one of the rare fruits that carry a lot of monounsaturated fat, which is something our bodies do require in order to function at their best. On top of all that, they taste pretty damn good too, and make a great addition to many kinds of smoothies.
Here’s a new take on a classic Avocado-Spinach smoothie combo that has been popular for a while. I like playing around with smoothie ingredients until I create delicious Frankenstein concoctions, and this is one of them. It also happens to be extremely healthy, so give it a try!
- 1 cup spinach, loosely packed
- 1/2 avocado
- 1 medium apple, peeled and cored
- 1 cup coconut milk
- 2/3 cup orange juice
- 1 teaspoon of matcha green tea
- 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg
Combine ingredients and puree until smooth. You can play around with the liquid ratios for different thickness levels. I also occasionally add a few pineapple chunks to this one to give it an extra refreshing zing!
