It’s well known in health and wellness circles that humans have been drinking green tea and enjoying its benefits for almost 5,000 years (as early as 2,737 BC in fact) both as a beverage and a medicine. But do you know just powerful this tea really is?
As more research is done into green tea benefits (which comes from the Camellia sinensis tea plant) the more we discover that it is a powerful medicinal full of valuable vitamins and antioxidants.
Green Tea Compounds Prevent Memory Loss from Lack of Oxygen (Sleep Apnea)
It’s known that those who suffer from the disorder sleep apnea actually stop breathing on and off during their sleep. These episodes can last upwards to a minute or even longer depending on the person.
With the most serious form, obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), this issue can occur hundreds of times during a single night and deprive the brain of oxygen, leading to possible brain damage that causes memory problems.
According to new research available, natural plant-based substances in green tea appear to stave off these problems.
Relying on the benefits of green tea instead of using drugs may prevent brain malfunctions due to hypoxia and could be an important aid to preserving the memories of millions of people suffering from sleep apnea and related issues.
Green Tea May Significantly Inhibit Breast Cancer
Green tea is high in the antioxidant EGCG, which helps prevent the body’s cells from becoming damaged and prematurely aged. There are many green tea benefits but this is perhaps the most important.
This ties right in with what scientists are learning about cancer and its relation to the deterioration of cells. Studies have suggested that the combination of green tea and EGCG may also be beneficial by providing protection against certain types of cancers, including breast cancer.
A new study conducted by researchers at the University of Mississippi researchers now finds that consuming EGCG significantly inhibits breast tumor growth in female mice.
Green Tea Benefits Can Stop the Development of Type 1 Diabetes
A powerful antioxidant in green tea may prevent or delay the onset of type 1 diabetes, Medical College of Georgia researchers say. Researchers were testing EGCG, green tea’s predominant antioxidant, and discovered just how potent this compound can be.
Autoimmune disorders are the third most common group of diseases in the United States and affect about 8% of the population. The nature of antioxidants is to stabilize the body, bringing it back into a more holistic balance.
Diabetes is one of the most common “imbalances” of the body as a result of eating food our bodies cannot process properly (carcinogenic food, artificial sugars, etc.)
Green Tea Also Inhibits Prostate Cancer From Spreading
Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of death in men in the United States, but a new study has found that drinking green tea can slow down the progression of prostate cancer.
Participants in the study were given the equivalent of 12 cups of green tea a day for an average of 34 days. Hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) was reduced by an average of almost 19%. Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) was reduced by 9.9%, and prostate specific antigen (PSA) was reduced by 10.4%. Some of the men showed numbers reduced by as much as one third.
Green Tea Prevents Dementia Significantly
Scientists at Newcastle University in the United Kingdom have recently discovered that when green tea is consumed, the digestive process creates powerful chemicals that work to protect the body against Alzheimer’s and brain deterioration in general.
Digested green tea chemicals prevented the Alzheimer’s disease-linked toxins from destroying normal cells and were seen affecting cancer cells as well, significantly slowing down their growth. It appears as if all degenerative illnesses involving cells can be at the very least inhibited with the compounds found in green tea.
Many varieties of plants and herbs carry extremely powerful compounds, but we have trouble digesting fully grown tree leaves, depending on the species.
The process of brewing tea extracts these incredible vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants into a form we can digest. The ancient’s knew the power of this, creating a variety of powerful concoctions and tonics from their experiments.
Green tea, especially matcha, is an exceptionally potent weapon against cell deterioration and illnesses of all kinds.
Don’t hesitate to start incorporating more green tea into your diet – not only is it delicious, years of research are beginning to prove that it has amazing health benefits that can no longer be ignored.
